In the future, Neuro-synchronization allows one access into the virtual network Neurolinker. Insecure Haruyuki Arita copes with his bullying by logging into and indulging in virtual games. His life changes when the school’s most popular girl Kuroyukihime introduces him to a secret program called Brain Burst and a virtual reality called the Accel World. With a Brain Burst point limit the only way to get more points is defeating other Brain Burst users in virtual reality mulitplayer fighting, but if one loses all their points they are locked out. Wanting to become stronger, Haruyuki agrees to fight alongside Kuroyukihime.
