Comic book characters are a deep source of inspiration for visual artists as avatars of social commentary and contemporary symbolism. Alma Villegas (senior director of development, Inner-City Arts), Kenny Keil (artist/writer, MAD magazine, Smoove City), John Jennings (author/artist/professor; Black Kirby, Kindred), and James Reitano (animation director/comics creator; 1985, 1987, music videos for Quasimoto, Czarface, MF DOOM) discuss their work at the intersection of contemporary art, community, and comics, as well as the work of Andy Warhol, Dulce Pinzon, Jean-Michel Basquiat, and others. Moderated by Gustavo Alberto Garcia Vaca (writer/artist, MoMA, LACMA, Beyond Warriors).
